Concert 1

FRIDAY Oct 6th

7 PM

Sateren Auditorium

Augsburg University, Minneapolis, MN

In the first concert of the Rayuela Festival 2017, pianist Matthew McCright performs Reinaldo Moya's cycle for solo piano, The Way North

The Way North depicts the journey of a Central American migrant through Mexico and their eventual arrival in the United States. The work consists of a series of short vignettes that capture the emotional, physical and psychological tolls that these people make as they make their way north in search of a better life for themselves and their families. A piece full of force, anguish, but also hope and beauty, The Way North is a pianistic tour de force.

Matthew McCright is a fiscal year 2017 recipient of an Artist Initiative Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
